I Tried San Francisco’s New $15 Coffee (for one eight ounce cup)

(actual headline with my edit)

http://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicamisener/coffee-disrupted#.enomxR5Oj

In case you didn’t know, San Francisco’s thing right now is REALLY FANCY coffee shops.

Like the kind where your coffee takes 30 minutes to make and comes with edible platinum flakes and a latte art selfie of your barista.

But when I saw that a coffee shop called Equator was charging $15 for pourover coffee (!!!!), I was floored.

$15? For just, essentially, black coffee?? I had to try it.

*end of excerpt*

For that price I can get a whole pound of coffee, grind it myself and be happy for days.

I can buy the beans at Safeway and grind my own. I would love to try pure Kona but that requires a bit of shipping from Hawaii.

Wine for me. Whiskey at night once in a while. It's the trendy thing. Only a putz drinks whiskey in the morning.

But I can say I would never pay $15 for a cup of coffee served in a paper cup. Grinding the beans with a power drill also looks like nothing more than a gimmick.

$84.92 per pound. For that price, I better have an orgasm every time I take a sip!

Equator is the coffee shop in this article.

I bet most of them consider themselves "liberal", too, all the while being good consumerist sheep.
