NRA Dodges Accountability: "Individual Board Members Do Not Speak For The NRA." After declining to comment to several news outlets, the NRA told The Washington Post on February 10 that "individual board members do not speak for the NRA." [The Washington Post, 2/10/16]

(15,888 posts)Ted Nugents latest comments go beyond being anti-Semitic they are ignorant and do nothing but fuel hate, Gross said in a statement. Personally, I am repulsed my brother was shot and seriously wounded in a religiously-motivated mass shooting on the observation deck of the Empire State Building. Reasonable people on both sides of the debate recognize Mr. Nugents comments for what they are: hate speech and nothing more.
Gross added that Nugents posts were yet another clear sign of how out of touch NRAs leadership and Board are with the groups members.

(70,708 posts)Why does the article label some others as anti-Semitic/neo-Nazi but not NUGENT? So the NRA only semi- tosses NUGENT under the bus, but will the fair-haired/lovely-smiling governor of Texas Greg ABBOTT? Is the current praise of TRUMP/DRUMPF for not being "politically correct" code for liberating racism out of its Silent Majority closet?

(82,849 posts)But, since they don't, I think it's quite reasonable for people to think that that violent, anti-Semitic, misogynistic, xenophobic, and just plain ignorant public rantings of their board member to be the violent, anti-Semitic, misogynistic, xenophobic, and just plain ignorant public rantings of the NRA.
You don't get to profit from your association with this dubious grandstanding individual and then disavow him when his antics draw unwelcome attention. He's your board member, NRA; he speaks for you and your membership. Don't like it? Get him off the board and revoke his membership.
