Tennessee Becomes 5th State to Pass Resolution Calling For Article V Convention

Tennessee has become the fifth state in the nation – and the first in 2016 - to pass a resolution calling for an Article V Convention of the States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

On February 4, the Tennessee House of Representatives voted 59-31 to approve Senate Joint Resolution 0067 calling for an Article V convention that would be “limited to proposing amendments to the United States Constitution that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress.”

The Tennessee Senate passed the same resolution last April on a 23-5 vote.

Although the resolution went into effect as soon as it passed the House, it was ceremonially signed by Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam on Tuesday.

There are NO limits once a Con-Con is actually called??
It would be a goddamned free-for-all, every smart person in the country knows it, and that's why it's never happened before. It's why every successful amendment proposed came out of the Congress first, and NOT the States.

And once the lunatics in the GOP, which has a clear majority in state houses and governorships, gets this going there is going to be Hell to pay. I would expect an officially Christian Country -- buh-bye establishment clause.

The only question is whether they would have the requisite super majority.

Best to not even let them have the chance.

They publicly say they want a convention for these reasons; but once it is called, you can bet every crazy, extremist, RW idea under the sun will be proposed in order to completely d story this country as we know it. These people are not fools. They are seditious but are wrapping themselves in the Constitution in order to mask their true intentions.

When you stop and think that they may want to bring back slavery and make both interracial and same sex marriage, illegal!

. . .they could only get a 65.5% majority.

So, how is it they intend to get the constitution changed again?
