I ran through my hearts quickly, but while I had them I made a practice of giving hearts to anyone who posted in my threads, regardless of whether I knew them or not. As a show of unity, may I suggest the same to anyone who starts a thread today. If you still have a supply of hearts, give one to anyone who posts in your thread that doesn't have them.
You will be surprised how it makes your thread more enjoyable to read.

(14,944 posts)Every year I buy hearts and run out of them far too quickly. I try to give them to people who lift my spirits and those of other DUers on a consistent basis. Especially makes me glad to give the first heart to someone.

(8,554 posts)and I think that your suggestion is a fine one!
Every year after I hand them out to my friends and favorites, I always look for those who haven't got any, (and I do check into any past threads that I'd started to find them).
It's simply a very nice thing to do.
Thank you for your challenge.
There's still time for us all to make this "Let no DUer go without a Heart Day"!

(20,818 posts)I always feel like I'm back in school during Valentine's week here, and for the thirteen years I've been on here. You're watching everyone else get all the goodies or get picked for the team, while you get the leftovers and the rolled eyes. Then you watch the super popular kids stroll by loaded down with extra goodies. I know there are several others here who feel the same way. Ah, well, at least it's something that makes you feel like a "kid" again, and at my age, I'll take it, lol.
That's why I try to make at least a couple people a year feel a little less like that. If everyone on here did that, then this place would be even better than it is, which is pretty damn good.

Putting a smile on someone's face is wonderful at any age!

(20,818 posts)that they didn't do the "give to one, give to all" rule in all of my schools, though I think it's a wonderful idea. I remember kids coming to school with invitations for birthday and other parties and they'd only give them to a few of the kids in the class, and the teacher would allow it. Of course, there were some kids that you were very glad you didn't get any kind of an invitation from, lol. Especially because my mother was one of those types that, if you got any kind of a call or invitation at all, you HAD to attend whether you wanted to do it or not or even liked the kid or not. I still tease her about that.
I see I have a heart, suddenly, thanks to whoever it was! Now off to give a few more hearts.
