RNC Chair On Potential Bloomberg Run: It Would Be ‘A Blessing' To GOP

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/priebus-bloomberg-2016-run?utm_content=buffera1ef1&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Who is afraid of Michael Bloomberg? Not the head of the Republican National Committee.

During two Wednesday afternoon cable news appearances, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus brushed aside the suggestion that a potential Bloomberg presidential run on an independent ticket would hurt the Republican Party.

“It is a blessing to the party,” Priebus said on Fox News’ “Happening Now.”

“It is helpful to us," he continued. "Happy for him to grab a ticket and get on board.”

Only fifteen minutes later, the RNC chair made the same point to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

“I don’t view it as a third party,” Priebus said. “I view it as another Democrat so you'll have two Democrats running and splitting their vote. Look, he's been fighting and pounding away at Republicans for how long now? He wants to tax slurpees and sodas. The guy is a liberal Democrat so great, if they want to have two Democrats run and split their vote and let us compete in places like Connecticut and New Hampshire and Maine—places we used to win 20 years ago—we'll take it. Honestly it's no skin off our back.”

that the GOP has its own ego driven billionaire, so if one joins the party, the other might jump in as well. Especially if said billionaire doesn't win the nomination.

and for as long a time as Trump and Bloomberg have hated each other.

Hell, if I were staying overseas I'd say it would be an amazing thing to watch...

Somebody screwed over somebody else's business deal, yada yada, eventually Bloomberg is using his power as mayor to screw up all of Trump's developments in the city, and Trump is funneling money to the campaign to keep him from being allowed a third term.

3. I have no idea why people here think Bloomberg would peel more voters away from Trump

than from Sanders. Him running would be a complete disaster.

Dems dislike him being wall street. But republicans despise him for gun control and his meddling in the size of beverages has made him the butt of Sarah Palin's joking.

They can't stand either Rump or Bernie. And heck, Bloomberg has said that what NYC needs is MORE billionaires! What could go wrong there?

The more I am convinced they would rather the GOP win than Sanders. He threatens the corporate goose that lays the golden eggs.

is going to turn on whether or how much slurpees are taxed.

But I could be wrong.
