Heidi Cruz: Ted Running To 'Show This Country The Face Of The God That We Serve'

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/heidi-cruz-ted-running-show-country-face-god-we-serve

Sen. Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi, who has been campaigning for her husband full-time over the past several months, explained the role of faith in the Texas Republican’s presidential campaign yesterday, telling a South Carolina radio host that Cruz is running to “show this country the face of the God that we serve.”

Cruz’s father Rafael made a similar statement last month when he said that Ted, whom he has implied was chosen by God for the White House, was running for president to “share the love of Jesus Christ” with “every person in America.”

Heidi Cruz told South Carolina radio host Vince Coakley yesterday that even if she were not married to Ted, she’d be trying to work on his campaign because “this country is in crisis and this individual has an incredible talent to bring us out of this crisis.”

This is in a large part, she said, because “this Christian God that we serve is the foundation of our country” and people need to be reminded that “Christians are loving people, are nonjudgmental people, but there is right and wrong, we have a country of law and order, there are consequences to actions and we must all live peaceably in our own faiths under the Constitution.”

Is Heidi a Canadian name?

One of NBC's most notable decisions in broadcasting:

The Heidi Game or Heidi Bowl was an American Football League game played on November 17, 1968, between the Oakland Raiders and the visiting New York Jets. The game was notable for its finish, in which Oakland scored two touchdowns in the final minute to win the game 43–32, but was named for a decision by the game's broadcaster, NBC, to break away from its coverage of the game on the east coast to broadcast the television film Heidi, causing many viewers to miss the Raiders' comeback.

<SNIP>

In an attempt to inform the audience of the outcome of the game, NBC flashed the final score across the screen. It did so during a scene in the film just as Heidi's paralyzed friend, Clara, was taking her first, slow steps. According to sportswriter Jack Clary, "The football fans were indignant when they saw what they had missed. The Heidi audience was peeved at having an ambulatory football score intrude on one of the story's more touching moments. Short of pre-empting Heidi for a skin flick, NBC could not have managed to alienate more viewers that evening."

Their God hates: Muslims, gays, women, poor children, blacks and probably Jews. Their God loves guns, waterboarding, rich children, oil companies, banks and depriving others of their rights. I would be very interested in which Gospel they quote to back their beliefs. I've been looking and can't find a verse ...

If they were "sharing the love of Jesus Christ," wouldn't they be following the guide book? You know . . . the old feed the poor, heal the sick meme? One of the main tenets of Saint Ted's run is taking healthcare away from people on his first day in office.

Thank you for that clarification, Heidi Cruz. It's nice to know that someone like you can profess to be non-judgmental and at the same time reveal yourself as a divinely informed expert on the "consequences of actions".

wants to increase taxes on the poor and massively cut them for the rich?

Cruz proposes a "flat tax". Says the rate will be 10% and a family of four will pay no taxes on their first $36,000 in income.

Well, under current law a family of four making $46,900 already pays no Federal income taxes. So Cruz would increase their taxes by $1,900. Plus, right now a family of four making $36,000 would pay a negative income tax of at least $1,248 (some of their child tax credit might be refundable too, so they might pay less, but I do not wish to try those calculations - their tax is $820 and their child credits are $2,000 so they may be getting another $1,180 refunded to them).

Cruz would increase taxes on all those low income people - in the name of prosperity.

Cruz also quotes Norquist saying that "everybody's taxes will be lower under Cruz's plan". Cruz is either an idiot or a liar because that statement is just flat out FALSE.

Perhaps Cruz has heard of Ananias. Just asking.

Then, of course, there are those who would greatly benefit from Cruz's plan. The top 1% in 2008 was paying an average Federal income tax rate of 23%. (They are paying a little more now) Their income is over $400,000 so they would be saving over $52,000 a year in taxes.

Not sure how Cruz would balance the budget, losing all that revenue. Perhaps, following the Prince of Peace, he would cut military spending? Hmm. His website says we must "rebuild our military". So who knows. Perhaps he can wave a staff and feed all the hungry with manna, and thus we save a bunch of money on food stamps.
