The Titanic sails again: Inside the lavish £300million replica of doomed ocean liner

Daily Mail:

If this replica of the RMS Titanic ever sets sail, it will look eerily similar to the ill-fated ocean liner that remains the most famous ship of all time.

These captivating side-by-side images show how the planned Titanic II will stick to the incredible detail of the original ship that sank in the Atlantic Ocean more than 100 years ago.

Even though today’s massive cruise ships have on-board amenities such as robot bartenders and giant slides, the Titanic replica will stay true to its namesake with a small swimming pool, Turkish baths and an Edwardian gym.

The launch of the fully functioning Titanic II, the brainchild of wealthy Australian businessman Clive Palmer, who owns Blue Star Line, has been pushed back to 2018.

while sailing as an engineering officer with Lykes Brothers Steamship Co. back in the '70s. The cabins weren't much better, though we didn't have to share a room. We got our 110 square feet.

Is a bare drop in the bucket compared to what's out there today.

Those doors look VERY narrow, and i'll bet the large rooms on the real Titanic would be standard fare on today's cruise ships.

I'm still trying to figure out how they're going to get enough people to travel on this enough times to make it profitable.

It had steerable thruster pods instead of traditional propellers. So while the styling of the ship is early 20th century, the technology is not.

If I was a ship builder I'd rather be working on something like the new Titanic then, say, a floating turkey aircraft carrier stuffed with turkey aircraft.
