tomorrow at 8 am, my oldest sister is having surgery to cut out a walnut sized tumor from her colon

Last edited Wed Feb 10, 2016, 07:48 PM - Edit history (1)

I am asking those of you so inclined to say a prayer for her.

She has probably had it for a long time, but until Obamacare she has not had the means to go to the doctor. Now thank God she does.

I am afraid it is a lot worse than anyone realizes because it has been so long.

Thank you in advance

SO at 7:30 AM my brother in law called

my sisters blood sugars are too high and they took the IV out and cancelled the surgery

She has to get with her gen doc and get the sugars down and they will reschedule

we are all dumbfounded.

It is cancer-they told her to get it out fast-now they are postponing because of blood sugar?

We just do not know what to do or think

I had planned to take the day and be there during surgery, but since I was so sick on Monday I had to stay home myself. The good news is, my planning period is at the end of the day so I am hoping my admin will let me leave then.

"tumor"? benign/malignant? biopsy?

adjuvant therapy, prior to excision is requisite

they didn't want to touch the tumor for fear of spreading?

really? paraphrasing their conclusion it appears malignant.

records of the adjuvant therapy prior to the excision for your knowledge

25. They don't remove growths that size during a colonoscopy for several reasons
Wed Feb 10, 2016, 01:42 AM
Feb 2016

First, they're not set up for it in the Procedure Room where colonoscopies are done. For one, there will be more bleeding, and they usually remove some surrounding colon as well, and that requires deeper anesthesia than the sedation given during a 'scopy, and more equipment to monitor the patient and cauterize blood vessels, resection the colon, etc. That it's being done in separate procedure doesn't indicate the severity of the tumor; only that it requires a more complex procedure to remove it safely. It could well be benign, but at that size, they'll want it gone.

My partner of 32 years, starts chemo at 7AM for cancer.

A tumor, almost blocking the rectum...then found out it has spread...due to that he never did anything about "potty"issues...he has already had a colostomy (something you do not want.)

Hope all around for the best.
