Of course, baseball is not a contact sport with the exception of thrown or batted balls and base runners, who these days had better keep their spikes away from the opposition fielders. (See Detroit Tigers' Ty Cobb, one of the greatest, and most hated.)
BTW, I am not an American football fan. In my opinion, only Australia has proper football.
Notice: no padding necessary and play does not stop every 30 seconds. It does not stop until the end of the quarter. The ball is always in play. And the field is a cricket ground, much larger than a US football field. And yes, the players run their asses off.
Aussie Rules Football (AKA Footie), the best team sport on the planet.
