Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize. No Kidding

Monday may not have been a great day for Donald Trump following the Iowa caucus results, but news emerging Tuesday may bring him cheer.

Somebody out there nominated him for the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize.

Kristian Berg Harpviken, director of the Peace Research Institute in Oslo and watcher of such award activity told news outlets that Trump was among those suggested for consideration.

Each year, the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize panel accepts letters of recommendation and usually receives over 200 endorsements.

A proposal that Trump become this year's recipient is said to cite the candidate's, "...vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, Isis, nuclear Iran and Communist China."

Go figure. Do you suppose anyone nominated Hitler or Stalin back when?

2. Are you really going to equate Donald Trump to Barack Obama? Seriously?

You may want to walk back that statement.

Obama's human decency and Trump's obnoxious hubris are from two different planets.

9. All he had to do was not be Bush

to me, it was aspirational, and a gesture of gratitude to the sane voters of America.

but then he did:
1. dial it back on Afghanistan
2. dial it back on Iraq
3. Cairo speech sparked the Arab Spring.
4. change American foreign policy to become more cooperative and less coercive.

not unqualified successes, i'll admit. but more than Trump has done or will ever do.

11. Well it was more about what he said he would do. We still have troops in both countries,

prisoners in Guantanamo and I am not so sure the Arab Spring thing has worked out so well. I guess anyone can be nominated but I don't think Trump will be getting it unless they give him one for losing. I guess anyone that would keep McCain out of the WH
kind of deserves a peace prize.

13. Obamacare is more than enough

Every Democratic president since FDR has been trying to get universal health care through. And they all failed.

And even though Obama didn't quite make it, he brought it further along than anyone thought possible.

Add to that, his forbearance in trying to do everything possible to reduce our presence in the Middle East. But, sorry, he ain't God. No one can fix that bag of worms. But he's done everything humanly possible.

Not to mention that he's had to put up with seven years of Republicans trying to gut anything and everything he proposes. No president has ever had to put up with that much hatred and obstructionism.

I think that, in the future, Obama will be considered a Great President, much like Harry Truman was after the fact.

But, just in case you are not...

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award on October 9, 2009, citing Obama's promotion of nuclear nonproliferation[2] and a "new climate" in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.[3][4]

And best of all, it was arebuke to George W. Bush and the war hawks, and it drove the right wing crazy. (Or crazy-er.)

Even OxyRush has been nominated. The real trick is to get enough votes to be taken seriously.
Like Limbaugh, Trump's name will get a few chuckles and that's as far as it will go.

6. There really are some nominations

that should not even be mentioned by anyone associated with the Nobel Prize.

Something like this could encourage morons to send in names like Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Idi Amin. There are some things that are better off not being publicized.

14. Henry Kissinger got it

Kissinger is as big a war criminal as Dick Cheney, yet they gave him the Nobel Peace Prize.

It's hard to find anything positive in that.
