Trump's obnoxious NY potty mouth did not endear him to IA evangelicals

Last edited Tue Feb 2, 2016, 09:12 PM - Edit history (1)

Churchy folk do not like the terms "shit", "bullshit" and "crap" spewed by their candidates.

"Bombing the shit" out of ISIS and "knocking the crap" out of dissenters are not very Christlike.

FYI Donald

I hasten to add sometimes that my mother emphatically did not raise me this way. She was very strictly against cursing. I couldn't even say "SUGAR!" because she knew it was a substitute for "SHIT!"

by incredibly sweet, god-fearing Catholics and Pops (her dad) was a BIG fella and would BELLOW when he was angry (not often but he was always working so...) so she was incredibly well-behaved. Nary a hair out of place.

Well they moved to White Plains and she met my Bronx born-and-raised dad at a dance. He was a handsome guy who swore (and still does, mostly when he’s discussing Republicans) like a champ, and she just thought that was the coolest thing ever for some reason. So they got married and this sweet little Irish girl started to channel a Bowery-tough in her speech patterns. And so it came to pass that when I got a little older and that new daughter smell had passed, when my mom got mad at me she’d call me a “little fucker”. And so it continues to this day, but now I can call her it back and we both fall over each other laughing.

However, since I deal with the public and have had many a job functioning as a liaison for high-value clients, I can turn it on and off at will. However, left to my own devices I will swear like the little fucker I was born to be.

My mother, while she was dead set against cursing, when SHE got aggravated she'd yell "JESUS MARY AND JOSEPH!" (We were Catholic.) Sound familiar?

Sometimes when she was REALLY angry, Grandma would yell “Jesus, Mary and Holy Saint Joseph!!!!”

After my parents divorced and my mom re-married a nice Jewish boy, I made one up for him to use when she would say that...his response was “David, Ester and Moses”! Grandma thought that was hysterical, thank god!

I remember Grandma telling me that when she was a lass in County Clare, she got into terrible trouble because her siblings dared her to take the Lord’s name in vain in front of her mam, who owned a little grocers' on Market Street in Ennis. The best she could muster was yell “THE CHEESE IS PRICED” and then quickly add, almost inaudibly, “at sixpence” under her breath. She told me she got the beating of her life.

What Donald Trump’s Short Fingers Mean for His Presidency [MJ is jumping the gun a wee bit IMO]

For Achilles, it was the heel. For Samson, it was the hair. For Beast, twas' beauty. Donald Trump may appear impervious to the sharpest Republican barbs, but he has one proven weakness over the course of his four decades in overly public life: stubby fingers.

Trump has presumably had short fingers for as long as he's had fingers, but it wasn't until 1988 that anyone called attention to it. That year, Spy magazine began the practice of needling Trump at every opportunity by referring to him in virtually every story as a "short-fingered vulgarian." ("Queens-born casino profiteer" would also do.) Trump defended his honor in the New York Post, stating that "my fingers are long and beautiful, as, has been well-documented, are various other parts of my body."

my reaction was - the operative word is "consider". He'd CONSIDER appointing someone to the SC who will make same-sex marriage illegal again. Isn't "consider" a kind of mushy legal loophole-y kind of word that would allow him to "consider" it and then decide not to?
Then again, I don't want him to be elected and find out for sure.
