Russian doctor punches patient to death in horrifying incident caught on surveillance camera

The surgeon, named as Ilya Zelendinov, can be seen bursting into a consulting room and grabbing 56-year-old Yevgeny Bakhtin. The shirtless patient had earlier kicked a nurse during a procedure, according to investigators.

Zelendinov asks Bakhtin: “Why did you touch the nurse?” He then pushes him through a doorway, and when the patient returns to the room, he punches him in the face, sending him toppling backwards onto the floor.

The doctor then repeatedly punches another man who had accompanied Bakhtin. Minutes later nursing staff realise that Bakhtin is lying motionless and unsuccessfully attempt to revive him.

3. That's not a death penalty offense.

I'm a registered nurse, and you expect some percentage of patients to be combative. You don't want it, but the proper response is NEVER for someone to beat them up.

2. It's good he was fired, good he faces some charges, but he also needs his license yanked.

Completely repulsive and unacceptable behaviour in a medical professional.

He needs never to be allowed near any pt. again in his life - I wish most of it was being spent in prison. I've been hit a few times by people en-route who were in so much pain they couldn't stand to be touched .... and I don't know why this man previously kicked a nurse nor am saying it was excusable in any way, but that doctor was on a power-trip, pure and simple. Fucking jackass.

So he might have kicked her out of reflex.
Regardless, it doesn't justify the doctor coming in later and punching him to death.

7. Thanks, LisaL, that makes sense too. And you're right, nothing justified a human being losing his

life there. Made me sick just watching it. And you know ........ I understand that women are physically weaker than men and also that the killer doctor was enraged, but ffs couldn't two or three of those nurses done something? Maybe he'd have stopped. And maybe I'm deluded, but I'd have jumped on his back and hung on for dear life or thrown a chair at him ....... anything. This really horrified me.
