Just for the record, Mike Huckabee won Iowa in 2008.

http://politics.nytimes.com/election-guide/2008/results/states/IA.html

And his victory was more impressive than Cruz's. He won by 9% over his nearest competitor with less candidates than we have now. How did things work out for him afterward?

John McCain, the eventual nominee, got crushed in fourth place, well behind Huckabee and Mitt Romney. Even Fred Thompson beat him!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Cubanadian shouldn't stroke himself too much about tonight's results if past history is any indication.

Actually, I hope he does. If Divine Providence is kind to the USA and delivers the US from a Republican presidency, that ########% Ted Cruz stands for re-election in 2018. A good Texas Democrat with a good campaign needs a thoroughly dinged-up Ted Cruz to campaign against.
