Donald Trump Jr, son of the Republican frontrunner, pulled five freshly shot pheasants from the back of his hunters jacket, placed them delicately in the Iowa grass, and posed with a toothy grin.
Trump Jr and his brother, Eric, had been dispatched to rural Iowa to help dispel the notion that their family is more interested in acquiring luxury golf courses than deer horns.
In contrast to their father, who never had much interest in hunting, the younger Trumps enthusiasm for the activity has been well known since 2012, when photographs surfaced of them posing with dead animals after a big game hunt in Zimbabwe.
The billionaires sons were snapped posing with an elephant, a leopard, a waterbuck and a crocodile hanging from a tree by a noose. There are, of course, no crocodiles in Iowa, but Trump Jr insisted that 90% of his hunting was of the traditional American variety.
From my weekend house I have deer hunting in my backyard Im setting up deer stands all summer, he said, shortly after shooting a third bird from the sky.

(6,409 posts)It was illegal to hunt from an elevated platform when I grew up and hunted deer. It should still be illegal, even though that's the way all my relatives hunt deer. The build little tree houses, some with cook stoves and TVs, and play American Sniper with the deer. It's quite unfair.

(51,308 posts)They put food out in direct sight line so they don't even have to move to shoot the poor creatures.
I feed the deer on our property year round...hoping to keep them safe here.
Our land is well posted.

(26,263 posts)But I think the most effective public and humiliating 'beheading' would be to simply have a public removal of that furry life form that perches on Trumps head.

(16,168 posts)he's able to kill deer. On Mondays it's pheasants from the Monday house, Tuesday and Wednesday he gets a free shot at elk on his hump day land, Thursday and Friday it's time to shoot those damn Canadian geese that crap all over the driveway at the pre weekend cabin. Saturday is a day to sleep in from all the killin.
I used to hunt. Way back in another time, way back.

(51,076 posts)I have no problem with a person hunting to eat or to feed his family but killing for sport I've no use for any of them.
I was raised poor and we hunted and fished to eat and not one bit was wasted, bragged on or smiled about. It was food.
