Weather prediction for Iowa snow on Monday to be released tomorrow

Snip: Becky Kern, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said the agency will release snowfall projections for Monday’s portion of the storm Friday. Those numbers won’t tell the whole story, because the heaviest snowfall is expected Tuesday. Those projections will come out Saturday, she said.

The Weather Service has a policy of waiting until 72 hours before a storm’s arrival to project snowfall totals.

AccuWeather Inc. probably will wait until Saturday to release a projected total for the storm, said meteorologist Dave Samuhel. AccuWeather is The World-Herald’s private weather consultant.

Kern and Samuhel said little has changed in the forecasting models, except for a bit of wobbling in the track.
