(9,766 posts)I really get tired of every weather event being touted as climate change. It helps nothing.
"A state like Florida has fairly erratic but continual tornado activity throughout the year, with tropical season favored as a peak."

(17,751 posts)My office being one of those places. Was in the middle of surgery when the lights flickered a few times, then out went everything. Black as night outside for 15-20 minutes. Hurricane force wind gusts. Basement parking lot for my bldg on Brickell ave. was flooded so badly that I had to remove shoes and pull up my pants to my calves to get to my car. Water was @ floorboard level of my Altima. Streets flooded. Many traffic signals nonfunctional. Traffic jams 'till the cows come home. Lots of stalled & flooded cars. Took 2 hours to get from downtown Miami to Coral Gables (normally a 15-20 min drive).
My Miami sister called me - said over 4,000 lost power.
It will clear tonight.
