Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly are from NYC; Ann Richards and Molly Ivins were Texans.

Does Lyndon Johnston fit within your viewpoint of Texas values? How about Sheila Jackson Lee - does she have Texas values? What about Governor Ann Richards or Molly Ivins? It's easy to make generalizations about an entire group based on some of the outrageous actions of a few you have observed, but I thought DU prided itself on having the ability to be above this.

Trump's response makes him look like he's a caring individual which he isn't. I don't think Ted was ever going to be a serious contender and now the Trump supporters and those on the fence about Trump will begin to look closer at Trump.

I still can't believe he's the front runner. Never in my lifetime would I expect that the voting populace would even for one second consider him a serious candidate.

and spent the majority of my life in Texas. When I was 46 years old, I looked around and said to myself, "You know, you don't HAVE to live here."

And that is how I became a Californian.

Texas is a place that looks great in your rear view mirror.

On this thread you see reference to some great Texas liberals, Jim Hightower, Molly Ivans, Ann Richards, Bill Moyers -- I don't think anybody mentioned my personal hero, Ralph Yarborough, who was the leader of the Democratic wing of the Texas Democratic Party while serving in the US Senate in the 1960s.

All Texas liberals are tough. You have to be tough to be a liberal in Texas because you are always surrounded by the most stubbornly stupid white people in the world. On the day that Ann Richards got turned out of the Governor's chair by then political rookie George W. Bush, her approval rating was over 60%.

I rest my case about The Lone Star State.

Seriously, though, Cruz' knock of The Big Apple is very good politics in Texas, particularly in the Republican primary. A very popular bumper sticker in Dallas when I was living there was:

&quot heart) NY? Take I-35 North"

It will probably help him all across the south, too. No Republican is going to carry New York, so all he did was blow off the NY GOP primary -- which he probably never had a chance of winning to begin with.

To understand Cruz, you have to think like a Texan.

Please don't hold it against me. I was born there.

The Daily News has a talent for creating covers that really drive the point home and consequently cause seismic shifts in political trends.

The most famous such example, of course. is the 1975 Daily News cover showing Jerry Ford up for his callous attitude toward New York and big cities in general:

They have no qualms insulting and talking down about Democrats and liberals -- and I don't just mean ribbing their political opponents "across the aisle", but denigrating ALL the actual citizens and voters across the country who identify as liberals!

And then, to generalize about New York because, obviously, it must be practically socialist since it's part of New England, right?

And these yahoos like Cruz want to be President? They don't even like half of the country's citizens, and they think government is stupid.

Yeah, go back to Canada, Ted Cruz!

P.S. Sorry, Canada.
