Cat Survives Flood by Floating in Litterbox

As flooding ripped through Missouri, placing the area in a state of emergency, one Fenton feline managed to survive the deadly wreckage by hunkering down in the most unlikely of objects: a litterbox.

Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO) rescue workers were boating through the flooded area on Dec. 31, 2015, when they heard the cries of a cat. Making their way to an immersed trailer, HSMO Disaster Response Team investigators Patience Scanlon and Brian Thomas peeked through the window of the trailer, spotting a tortoiseshell female cat floating on an unidentifiable object.

After carefully breaking the window, rescuers were able to apprehend the cat, and identify her makeshift flotation device as a litterbox. She has since been reunited with her family.

They put people to shame. I asked my cat to run for higher office, but she said it wasn't worth the effort.

The real trouble is finding space in our two cars for us after all the fur babies are loaded. No stuff, just living, breathing creatures.

to bring their companions with them. Definitely not going in that case.

I remember reading that, in Cuba, they have excellent evacuation plans, shelters, etc., and people are allowed to bring their pets.

During the last two major fires here, people using the emergency shelters were allowed to bring their companions, and the local vet hospitals also made provision for them.
