Mom had the surgery late yesterday. She had an epidural for pain but was allergic to the medicine. So now she has a narcotic pump that is patient controlled. She is alternately sleeping and throwing up because the narcotic is making her sick. The operation took bone from her hip and mixed it with some kind of synthetic material to fill out where the vertebra is supposed to be. Then they fused around it.
I'm leaving for a training thing in So Cal in a few minutes. I'm sorry for being a tool about the response. I don't get the dynamics here and am pretty stressed out.

(34,119 posts)I was wondering how she was doing.
Let us know when you have the time how she is recovering. I agree, the doc can give her anti nausea drugs.

(8,596 posts)This place can be hard to get the hang of, lol. Don't forget to take good care of yourself. This is stressful for you too! Keeping AK in my thoughts. Docs should be able to give her some anti nausea meds, as mentioned above.

(13,776 posts)It must be wretched to come out of surgery like that and have nausea tacked on to what is probably already a pretty painful thing to recover from.
I hope they give her antinausea meds and that she recovers very very quickly!
