Trump is going to cut it's head off and keep it's oil, but I can't figure out where he thinks they keep it.

(3,343 posts)How would anyone without actual boots on the ground... because the Iraqi Army is fairly awful, Turkey allows ISIS to smuggle oil and weapons to try and get rid of Assad. Russia bombs the anti-Assad rebels, etc., etc.
Anyone that says there's a simple answer is lying...
Saying that... The oil fields COULD be bombed... and are by the US to some degree... not sure why they all haven't been, but they haven't.

EdwardBernays
(3,343 posts)legitimately sell it... it's all black market... and a lot of it is sold via our ally Turkey.

(3,343 posts)Russia has alleged numerous times - and provided "evidence" that a son of Ergodan, Bilal is actually behind a lot of smuggling:

How much of this is true is well above my pay grade but... There's ample evidence from numerous sources that A HUGE chunk of Syrian oil is being smuggled through Turkey.
And moving million of barrels of illegal oil is something that requires either bribery or collusion. Or both.
There's also evidence a lot of it's being used by ISIS in their little made up caliphate. It's a HUGE area and they control gasoline refineries as well.
Anyway. Have a google because the information is pretty available. Up to a point.

Seriously, this question bothers me, too. If they are selling it for income, how is this even done since they got the oil illegally.

Inside Isis Inc: The journey of a barrel of oil
Isis controls most of Syrias oil fields and crude is the militant group's biggest single source of revenue. Here we follow the progress of a barrel of oil from extraction to end user to see how the Isis production system works, who is making money from it, and why it is proving so challenging to disrupt, even with airstrikes.
