Time Warner Cable Says Data Breach May Affect 320,000 Customers

Bloomberg) Email addresses and passwords belonging to about 320,000 Time Warner Cable Inc. customers may have been stolen, the company said.
The source of the theft hasnt been determined,Scott Pryzwansky, a Time Warner Cable spokesman, said in an e-mail. He said there are no signs the companys systems were breached.
The e-mail addresses and passwords were likely taken after customers downloaded malicious software or after a data breach of another company that stored data belonging to Time Warner Cable customers, according to Pryzwansky.

A Time Warner Cable spokesman said the FBI recently notified the company that some customers email addresses including account passwords may have been compromised.
The company said it is sending emails and direct mail correspondence to encourage customers to update their email passwords.
The latest breach comes two months after Comcast reset the email passwords of about 200,000 customers because they were listed for sale online.
