COUNCIL BLUFFS — Even Donald Trump has his moments of modesty.

The bombastic Republican presidential candidate known for his super-sized ego and his street-fighter persona had a soft-spoken moment Tuesday during a stop in Omaha and Council Bluffs, when he acknowledged that even he is a little surprised at his No. 1 position in national polls.

It came as Trump was escorting a pack of 14 reporters off his opulent Boeing 757 airplane at the end of a press conference.

What, a reporter asked, had the New York real estate developer discovered about politics that ran contrary to his earlier beliefs?
