2000 black youths riot in mall, shots fired. No, wait. Correction: 2000 white kids brawl in mall. No arrests were made

"Our officers, they showed great restraint,"
I"m sure they did.

Cause the video at the link shows an astonishing lack of white faces for an all white crowd.

Seems like it was a pretty good mix of all sorts of kids to me.
Amazing that black kid fighting in the top video wasn't shot though...

(13,889 posts)The few videos that I saw suggest kids of all races were involved. It's hard to make out skin tones from poor quality video but some of the participants shown definitely appeared to be black, so the claim that it was '2000 white kids' seems bogus. I was actually rather pleased that police got the situation under control without arresting or shooting anyone.

(13,889 posts)Look at the URL of the image (open the image in a new browser window if need be), it has the date of the originating news story in it. If you use Chrome, you can also click on an image and use the context menu to 'search Google for this image' which will often help you track down the original source - which is not necessarily the top result.
This thread is a good example of why you should be cautious about trusting editorial articles and stories about fast-breaking news in general, initial assumptions often turn out to be wildly misplaced.

(9,001 posts)A similar situation involving black kids would probably not have entailed officers using "restraint".
