let's wish little Sailor the best and be happy for her.

I just can't find it in my heart to hate on Bristol Palin today. I don't feel it and besides, it is really, really bad form.

We gotta be better than that here at DU...

An innocent baby, that never asked to be born in the first place, should NEVER be "open game" or a target of ridicule, no matter WHO the parents are.

We, as human beings first, and DUer's secondly, should strive to be above this kind of action. Sure, point out the hypocrisy of the parents all day... just leave the child out of it.

Peace,

Ghost

What's she waiting for? What's HE waiting for? What's so gawd-awful about marriage that all these people are running around making babies, but not willing to live together under contract and raise it?

There is no need for me to be stingy with my wishes. I wish the best to Sailor Grace. But even more, I hope for the best for the unhealthy children who are born. I hope for the best for the unwanted children who are born. I wish the best for the parents of the miscarried children. I hope for the best of the Syrian children who have no homes. I hope for the best for the Nigerian children whose parents died in the recent explosion...

So I hope every time you take a moment out of your day to wish good thoughts about Sarah Palin's granddaughter, you think about EVERY other baby that won't have the Palin wealth to cushion it from the realities of birth to an unwed mother.

When I look at my little grandchldren I am immensely grateful (to the point of tears) for their good fortune even being acutely aware of the suffering of children all over the globe. To me, it is one of the overarching messages coming out of Christmas. We are not religious altho my stepdaughter is a reform rabbi (and acutely aware of the suffering of all children -- she herself has a late age baby and was surprised to learn she is pregnant again! We are joyful1).

So it's personal to me as well as political. It is why I have to be this political -- there is no future for the planet if we don't make the next generation's lives better. No question from me at all on that...

best wishes to you!

I have heard that it changes you. Makes you see things differently, makes you protective.

I see some little white mother with a little white kid and people oohing and aahing over it, and offering it love, when so many more deserving kids get none, and I want to puke.

It's like Paris vs. Lebanon (Or Paris vs. Nigeria last January). One gets major media attention and a world ready to go to war, the other is back page news. Both are people getting killed by Muslim terrorists.

But you're right, it is Christmas. I hope you get to enjoy your grandchildren for the rest of your life, especially when you're laughing at the evil teenager things they do to their parents that their parents did to you. I've heard that's common with grandparents.

I really do wish you well. We just see the world differently.

I wanted to leave politics alone just for that moment. We can resume later. Of course, she's a hypocrite just like her mom. And I'm real sorry this kid had to be born into that family and have their crap influence her look on life and on others. It's sad, indeed.

I don't even remember a time when a "child out of wedlock" was something to be ashamed of, or when it was somehow everyone's concern or business.

During the campaign, I recall him being asked about Bristol Palin's out-of-wedlock pregnancy. He replied gently that any of his supporters who felt tempted to criticize her should remind themselves that those were the circumstances of his own birth as well.

It is a nice picture I wish her and the baby well anyway. They can't help being in the Palin family.

I wouldn't give a flying fuck that Bristol Palin has now had two children out of wedlock, two different fathers, except that she's held herself up as some sort of paragon of virtue and has preached abstinence as The Best Possible Thing.

If she were black, she'd be vilified by the entire Republican Party as a worthless taker, with zero respect whatsoever given to her willingness to give birth and raise the unplanned babies. Instead, she's allowed to prance around as if she's done something wonderful.

It's the hypocrisy.
