Wisconsin GOP "gets biblical" in state-produced Christmas video

A Waukesha Republican lawmaker appears to proselytize non-Christians in a video produced with state resources, prompting concerns from the Freedom From Religion Foundation....

"Merry Christmas. To me and my fellow Christians, celebrating the birth of our savior, our Emmanuel — well, it is one of the most important celebrations of the year," Allen's video begins. "For those who may watch this who are not Christians, I invite you to consider the hope offered by the Prince of Peace"....

Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation, said the organization's lawyers are looking into the legality of Allen's message, but her first reaction is that it's "a no-no."

It would be different if Allen were using personal or campaign resources to spread the message, she said. She likened the video to a University of Wisconsin professor using state resources to promote a political candidate. "Using equipment of the state to promulgate religious beliefs or proselytize — we don't elect our state representatives to be our pastors," she said.

So, we can look forward to the Wisconsin legislature passing legislation to take care of the least of these, your fellow citizens, by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and housing the homeless, like Jesus said you should do? Matthew 25. And you're not just going to be offering your thoughts and prayers to victims of natural disasters, and crime, and rapacious economic policies, but you're going to be taking meaningful action to relieve their suffering, right? James 2:15-18.

That's what you mean, right?
