(55,745 posts)His leadership, brains, and connections made him a threat. Karl Rove and BFEE couldn't let him become a national figure. What shocks me is the cowardice of the Obama administration in allowing and supporting cough Elena cough Kagan the miscarriage of justice Just-Us.
Merry Christmas, Gov. Siegelman! John Prine doesn't know what he's talking about.* The food is lousy.
I kid. The guy is great artist.

(37,549 posts)The case is legally complex, and he's currently still on appeal. I do agree that the President should consider a pardon request, once it's made.

(32,025 posts)Why did he appoint Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court when it was she who fought Siegelman's appeal and asked for a greater sentence?

(32,025 posts)No request need be made. But no need to worry about having to continue making apologetic defenses of Obama's refusal to pardon. Siegelman will be getting out in 2017 about the same time Obama leaves office.

(7,412 posts)The Obama Justice Department has been fighting to keep him in prison for years? It really makes no sense for the President to pardon him at this point when it's been his administration that has kept the guy in prison for pretty much his entire two terms.
