War On Terror Has Created More Terrorism

By Dan Wright

https://shadowproof.com/2015/12/17/war-on-terrorism-has-created-more-terrorism/

Has the U.S.’s anti-terrorism program worked? Nope. In fact, terrorism has dramatically increased since the war began.

A Dec. 15 breakdown by CBS’ Ben Swann showed that deaths from terrorism in the Middle East increased by 4,500 percent between 2002 and 2014. If the goal of the War on Terror is to reduce terrorism, it is an abysmal failure. Whoops.

<snip>

Though “overthrowing dictators” and “bringing democracy” may be a psychologically satisfying fantasy for some, the actual results of those policies have led to more misery, death, and chaos for those people being “liberated,” as well as costing the U.S. trillions of dollars of tax money and thousands of U.S. soldier’s lives.

The War on Terror is only increasing terrorism and making the world less secure and free. And yet, despite all the clear evidence, there seems to be no interest among U.S. policymakers and war planners in even a basic examination of the assumptions of the U.S. War on Terror/anti-terrorism program. The establishment will not even admit there is a problem, let alone seriously consider ways of addressing it. The failed war shall go on.

Drugs are cheaper, stronger, and more available than before the War started. Likewise, domestic gun production has tripled since 2007 and imports have doubled.

The law of unintended consequences seems to be in full effect.

In the last few decades when we declare "war" on something, it's been pretty much guaranteed to get worse and come back stronger.

Watch gun sales and gun manufacturers profits if Hillary or Bernie get elected, they will continue to experience record profits and sales just due to the rhetoric while nothing meaningful gets through Congress.

Whether we have zero troops or 2000000 troops in the ME, a terrorist can plan an attack. The concept of fighting a War on Terrorism simply makes no sense. There is not way to militarily fight away terrorism.

Iran was headed toward a stable, secular democracy, until the CIA decided it needed to be more open with its oil reserves and gifted it with the dictatorial Shah. The response was the rise of the Islamic Revolution. It's questionable as to whether Iran would have Ayatollahs and be the central force in radical Shia activities today if we hadn't decided to topple a government the people seemed to like.

Al Quaeda inspired its followers on a similar basis -- American troops in Muslim lands.

Then we thought it would be smart to annihilate the government and infrastructure of Iraq, and in so doing, do nothing to either co-opt or capture Hussein's Sunni troops and leadership.

Then destabilization in Egypt, Libya, and Syria, leaving chaos, a huge power vacuum, and tens of thousands of people who only know America as that outfit that keeps blowing things up.

We're not the sole cause of Islamic extremism, but absent our consistent foreign policy of preferring business-friendly dictators and trying to destabilize or "regime change" every player in the region, it's hard to see how either Al Quaeda or ISIL could have gained the traction that they have.

We set things on fire and then shriek in outrage when a spark leaps off onto our clothes. And for some reason, we almost never connect any of those dots -- even the most obvious like our disastrous regime change adventures in Iran and Iraq -- and consider that maybe we should stop doing things this way.

They're voracious. Of course, that means more drugs and terror needs to be harvested if the "wars" want to keep on eating $$$.
