(4,113 posts)Republicans I know preach about family values, yet, their party's front-runner is on his third marriage. I'll bet if somebody digs into Trump's past, they'll find that he's a serial adulterer and has no problem with having abortions if they terminate an inconvenience in his life.
We already know how two-faced he is about keeping jobs in America and immigrant labor.

(12,882 posts)the intent of his insinuation was clear. And I recall that his daughter was there when he said this. I mean.... for a father to even HAVE that thought in his head....

(6,891 posts)You know, the kind who use it to sanctify their ambition, greed, fear, hatred and prejudices, even their crimes. Those kind of people. Not just fake Christians either, but self-serving fakes of any religion.

As a devout agnostic, I often avoid commenting on the religions of others. However, there is obviously something wrong with "Christians" who glorify Trump and spit on Jimmy Carter.
This seems so incredibly fucked up as to be beyond reason and it's possible that human beings represent an error in evolution. If so, it will probably self-correct at some point.

(8,699 posts)But I'll be happy when we stop measuring a person's values system and moral compass by what type of special book they read or don't read.
I would like to think Carter would be a good person, no matter if he had religion or not.
If the only way the human race understands that murder, rape, stealing and cruelty are wrong and the main reason to not do those things is if you're good and don't do those things, you get to go to a Disney world-like place forever, we are in serious trouble.

(23,156 posts)As someone who has my own peculiar beliefs, but not founded in any so-called holy books, it makes me both furious and sad that a person cannot seem to be elected to any higher office in this country without proclaiming belief in one specific holy book. Not that they have to actually abide by the supposed teachings, but if they don't pay loud lip-service, then it's all over.
