apology and a very respectful acceptance of the apology between the two "bickerers."
So it made no sense.
To many, it appeared that he had an overly rehearsed line that he couldn't give up, even though circumstances on the stage didn't warrant it.

Why listen to serious plans and positions if there is a fight to watch?
