Poll: Trump won fifth GOP debate. Bush lost.

Donald Trump was the winner of Tuesday night’s fifth GOP presidential debate, a new poll says.

Thirty-five percent of registered Republicans think Trump won the contest in Las Vegas, according to a One America News Network survey released Wednesday.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) ranks second, with 25 percent, and 14 percent picked Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), putting him in third place.
Nine percent thought Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) did best. Following him are retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina with 5 percent apiece, tied for fifth place.

A plurality said former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) was the debate’s loser. Twenty-six percent said Bush flopped on Tuesday night. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is next, with 19 percent, while Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) follows at 16 percent.

I'm glad because I am not interested in Clinton vs. Bush

Clinton vs trump or Cruz is better for us.

No Clinton vs. Rubio though. No thank you on that.

On one hand, Trump has destroyed any hope he has of getting significant Latino support, but he will attract what I think of as "Ross Perot" independents -- small business owner types who are often apolitical, but will be attracted to Trump because he's a businessman and he's unfiltered. Cruz will likely poll much better with Latinos than Trump, but doesn't excite people outside of movement conservatives.

That said, America is in a bad place emotionally right now. This is kind of like the mindset in 1980, but with fewer rational causes.

We have candidates in single digits that I don't want to leave for sure. It hurts nothing to have ours stay.

I thought Trump was horrible in every one of them.

But, then, I'm not a racist psycho i.e. the Republican voting bloc who think Donald's mouth farts make perfect sense.

I would pleasure myself with a rusty cheese grater before I'd vote for Rand Paul, but he was by far the most clear-headed and logical individual on that stage the other night, followed by Kasich and Bush. Which doesn't say much for the rest of the field.

That registered Republicans think Rand, Kasich and Bush "lost" that debate shows just how far around the bend the Republican party has traveled.
