All day long I've been hearing about a new terror level...
But not much about what it is or
WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT?
Do I hide under the bed, arm myself to the teeth, keep CNN on, get drunk or stoned, or just forget the whole thing since there's a better chance I'll get hit by lightning than hurt by a terrorist?
So, for years we've been dealing with this Homeland Security level of bureaucracy that's supposed to be doing something that the thousands of federal, state and local authorities apparently can't do. And, of course, every bureaucracy has to justify its existence to keep it's funding, so after a deranged couple shot some people we have an upgraded alert system. Like it would have helped if we had it before the deranged couple went off their meds.
Terrorism is defined in most dictionaries as violence in the pursuit of political goals. Why do we have to create entire mechanisms to deal with that when we can't deal with violence for non-political goals?
