the legacy of G W Bush.
How else would you explain them offering these candidates?
People will say; "He wasn't so bad in comparison".

(111,292 posts)The current crop of fundegelicals, end times nutbars, and a complete clown like Trump have probably disgusted anyone left in that party with a few living brain cells. None of their decent people have run, unlike in former years.
It's far too soon to try to deodorize Stupid's 8 years, most working people haven't seen any sort of a recovery and the memory of the crash is just a little too raw. This has slopped over onto the brother who put him into office, as it should.
I think their best and brightest are simply waiting this one out, hoping the party holds together and a miracle happens and all the religious nutbars take a hike into their own party. Admittedly, it's a low bar in that party for "best and brightest." If there is a brokered convention there will likely be blood on the floor and a party split is a real possibility.
The problem is that this country likes changing the top party every 4-8 years. I'm just terrified that will be true this time and we'll get some corrupt bastard or total lunatic (the only choices) in office.

W was the worst President in our history. One of these clowns would be worse however.
