I wish the media would not fixate on Caitlyn Jenner as the spokesperson for trans people

Declaring Caitlyn Jenner a spokesperson for trans issues, is much like declaring Kim Kardashian the spokesperson of feminism. Kardashian way well be a feminist, but her experience just does not mirror most of our lives. Jenner can well be the spokesperson of ultra wealthy transpeople, but that is really the only demographic she can adequately represent.

“One thing that has always been important for me, and it may seem very self-absorbed or whatever, is . . . your presentation of who you are,” Jenner, 66, said. “I think it’s much easier for a trans woman or a trans man who authentically, kind of, looks and plays the role.”

The reality star added, “I try to take [my presentation] seriously. I think it puts people at ease. If you’re out there and, to be honest with you, if you look like a man in a dress, it makes people uncomfortable.”

most transpeople don't have an army of surgeons and designers to make them look as feminine/masculine as possible.

Is a far better spokesperson/role model.
Humble, intelligent and humorous.

She has a documentary about her life and transition.

The only thing that truly matters is if one is comfortable in their own skin.

not everyone has the need/ability to transition in a way that she is talking about. her comments are gross.
