In the story the town rejected the solar farm because it would suck all the energy from the sun. The story is spreading but hard for me to believe it's real.

(17,469 posts)though it seems the city was giving more weight to the "there's nothing in it for us, so why bother" side of the argument, than the crazies. But still, the woman who was listed as a former "science teacher" should have her credentials retroactively revoked, and any children she taught should found and tested for learned stupidity.

(3,982 posts)It would be so nice to have a real media so we could actually read information instead of trumped headlines.
And why do we embrace such headlines? What does it say about our society?

(16,296 posts)I read the news article in the local newspaper for the area. Amazing tour-de-force of stupidity. Should make the town, the state, and by association, the nation ashamed of its educational system.

(4,490 posts)An ex-science teacher apparently made the claim during public comments, but that wasn't the rationale used by the town council in rejecting the solar farm.
They approved 3 other solar panels previously, but it looks like property values and the lack of any direct benefit to the town were the main concerns.

(39,215 posts)energy from them does not go to the local area but instead is used in Kentucky. I don't know if this is true either but it seems to me that this is a big mistake - build up the local area first and then ship to other areas.
