How warm is it in your area ????

It is currently 70 degrees in Seaman, Ohio.

I have all the windows open and it is 72 degrees in my house.

My lilacs are budding.

My yard is filled with wild violets.

I have seen a few dandelions, some yellow, some heads of seeds.

My grass is green and growing rapidly.

It is hard to believe it is December 12th when I don't need a coat, sweater,

or jacket to go outside.

but it's been warmer than average until this last week. We had almost no snow at all until last week. I'm in Edmonton Alberta so pretty far north. Until last week our temps had been well above freezing every day - nearly 20 degrees Celsius above normal. This week it's been seasonal...with some snow. So at least we will have snow for Christmas. Unless a strong Chinook comes through between now and then...I do remember brown Christmases from my childhood because of those pesky Chinooks which are definitely stronger during El Nino years.

It's in the 60's here in central PA, my daffodils are coming up, and I'm still picking ticks off my dogs.
When I mentioned "effects of climate change" to my s.o., I was told me to "stop confusing weather and climate" like the republicans always do.
Which made me wonder, at what point can I point to local weather events and make a connection with climate?
[I always hate when climate change deniers use the first snowfall to scorn climate science--I don't want to do the same in reverse.]
But the weather here is getting really creepy.

IT was close to 60 in some places I think, though the city I live it was upper 50s with high winds at times. Last Christmas season was a bit warm with little snow that came and melted; and this was after two winters with a lot of snow and that polar vortex that made us absolutely miserable. I think Michigan Winters are going to be one ends of the extreme (little snow and warm to too much snow and bitterly cold).

it was only 60sish, and I'm still hoping some of the crocuses will bloom before winter hits, if it ever does this year. But a number of the trees and bushes have rebudded, and will lose energy they should be storing up to get through winter. We had the windows open a lot the last couple of days.
