Not sure whether this belongs in GD or GDP, but first there's this tweet from someone named Joshua Green:

The problem, of course, is he doesn't say which party, and which narrative. Most, if not all, of the responses to the tweet are focused on the GOP.
Then there's this from Donald Trump:

(50,986 posts)badly the Republican candidates treat each other.
Trump seems to be hinting that the poll will show a dip in his numbers, as he's blaming the polling source. Maybe Cruz is farther up than just merely "leading."
I hope Jeb! remains in the low single digits. I'm truly enjoying the demise of his campaign.

(135,425 posts)Walker has pulled out, but I think he only "suspended." He didn't close the door entirely.
There's tricky language they use to keep their options open.

(32,071 posts)When they end their campaigns because of Federal Election Commission regulations regarding contributions they have say they have to say they have only "suspended " their campaign.

(135,425 posts)They CAN say they have "ended" if they want-- but if they do, they can't keep raising money.

suspended campaign
Federal law does not define or officially recognize the act of a presidential candidate suspending their campaign instead of formally ending it.
CNN: Practically speaking, if a candidate removes him- or herself from the race without the intent of re-entering at a later date, then there is not a big difference between suspending a campaign vs. dropping out entirely. The end result is usually the same: the candidate is no longer seeking that particular office That said, there are two main differences between suspending and ending a presidential campaign: delegates and money.
Candidates who suspend their campaigns usually get to keep any delegates theyve won and can continue to raise money beyond whats needed to retire their campaign debts. In contrast, candidates who actually drop out of a race, usually have to forfeit certain delegates and are limited in how they can raise future funds.
Slate: The phrase has been employed at least as far back as the 1970s and continues to serve as the most popular way for candidates to end their primary bids without closing down their campaign committees.
I have to wonder if Walker is going to tell everyone to vote for him, and he'll hand off the delegates to the RNC Big Wigs for THEM to make the call....or some other silliness...?

(135,425 posts)encourage everyone at the caucuses to say Feck Em All and nominate Walker anyway.
Remember, Walker pulled out with the "THINK OF THE CHILDREN.... er, the PARTY!!!" excuse.
He's trying to paint himself as the Self-Sacrificing GOP George Washington, a leader among men, with that action.

(135,425 posts)Since he has "suspended" and not "terminated" he can always come back.
Who knows what will happen?

(32,071 posts)No, the PTB can't do that.

(135,425 posts)I have no idea how regimented they are--I always got the impression that they had more discipline than the Democrats in IA.
You need to ask the guy who put out this teaser what he meant, all I did was post his tweet.

(32,071 posts)Santorum won in 2012 and he was not the candidate of the PTB. Huckabee won in 2008 and he was not a PTB guy. The Iowa caucus is a random group of people who come out on a cold and snowy night (usually). I don't think anyone has any control of them in either party.
