Why are tea party republicans so unnecessarily cruel?

What made these people so damn mean? It is astounding. I have noticed in local elections that these tea party republicans will continue disrespecting their democratic political opponent even after the tea party republican has won the election. They like to beat the dead horse beyond recognition. It's the type of behavior that I might expect from maybe a badly behaved middle school kid, but certainly not from an adult. In my city, the republicans are trying to arrange it so the local elections occur in the summer in order to make it harder for the college students to vote. The republicans are threatened by college students apparently. They seem to not like the fact the democrat had a chance of winning the election. That kind of thing shouldn't be allowed. How dare the democrat try to win! Doesn't the democrat know their role in the election is just to be the fall guy? The republican still won by the way, but since it is a truly scary thought that a democrat might win, we ought to do something about it and that means making sure those college students have a damn hard time voting. I'm really tired of these people. It seems the republican will be loved and adored for being a straight up jerk, but the democrat is going to get criticized up and down for being a decent, respectful person. It really defies logic.

On a somewhat related note, one annoying aspect of being a white person in this country these days is that tea party republicans seem to assume that all white people are republicans. Yeah, a lot of white people are republican, but not all of us are. My husband gets it a lot at work. Other white people feel the need to share all their shitty tea party political views with him and he just tries to ignore them or change the subject because he doesn't want to start shit at work (even though his co-workers are really starting it... he's afraid the political climate isn't good enough at his work to be openly liberal and he works at a public school). If he was some other ethnicity they'd probably wouldn't speak their political minds to him. Well, a lot of what they have to say is racist too, so chances are they would just stay quiet.

All in all, I'm just so disappointed and fed up with the majority in this country.

It seems like it just occurred to these people that the college students could vote in local elections. They always have had that right, but the local republicans just started to take notice. The democrat was youngish (30) and he also went to the local college, so I think more college students wanted to vote this time because of that. For all the complaining about young people... that they just don't show up to vote... when they finally start showing up the republicans decide something needs to be done about that.

which was great for students. The Republicans--who through the appointment process ( since the Governor
is a Repub and gets to control the appointment process)
to the County Election Boards--now control the selection of early voting locations and the Orange County BOE moved the early voting site OFF campus in the last election. Orange County is about 2/3 Dems and one of the most liberal counties in NC.

And there is a Republican a$$hole who is always at our local precinct now, working in
the polling place. All you have to do is show up to vote and there is no longer any friendly
chatter. It's quite clear he has everybody else intimidated.

I'm sick of fu*king Republicans. Liars, cheats, racists, bigots, misogynists and greedy a$$holes.

I thought it was great. I don't know if they still do it. I hope they do. The voting wasn't on campus where I live now. It was just a one central voting location, so the students had to bother to leave campus to vote.
