Citadel KKK Christmas skit (!)

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Officials at the Citadel Military College are investigating after photos that appear to show cadets wearing white sheets on their heads surfaced on social media Thursday morning.

Lieutenant General John W. Rosa, the president of the Citadel, released the following statement after hearing word of the incident:

"A social media posting, which I find offensive and disturbing, was brought to my attention this morning. It shows an upper class cadet in front of seven cadets with pillowcases over their heads. In accordance with college policy, we immediately began suspension proceedings for those cadets known to be involved, and we are continuing to investigate this incident. Preliminary reports are cadets were singing Christmas carols as part of a “Ghosts of Christmas Past” skit. These images are not consistent with our core values of honor, duty and respect. We will provide more information upon completion of the investigation."

A woman tells us she posted screenshots of videos showing the cadets wearing hoods on Facebook after seeing them on a messaging app called Snapchat.

The woman, who does not attend the Citadel, said she posted the screenshots on Facebook because they offended her.

"Whether they are supposed to look like ghosts or not, we all know what they look like and they know what they look like and it's just rude," she said in a Facebook post.

and age. No matter the excuses they'll undoubtedly present, this shows astonishingly bad judgement at the very least, no need to guess at what may be in their hearts. They may be suspended for bad behavior, but they should be expelled for clearly showing that they really do not have the right stuff.

They claim they are supposed to be ghosts, and the President of the school said they are investigating and had "immediately begun suspension proceedings."
May be more clueless than racist.

When I was growing up, if you wanted to be a ghost, it was a full bedsheet with eyeholes, not this pillowcase stuff. And although one of them might have not gotten a clue, I can't imagine you could have that many people and not realize KKK. And if they really can't, they need some major sensitive training, and that would be inexcusable for the Citadel. And if they really still can't figure it out, it's inexcusable for them.

Just my thought; usually I'm inclined to give some benefit of the doubt, but I'm having trouble with that here.

At a minimum it was extraordinarily stupid.
Only reason I might accept the excuse is they have to know that dressing as a Klansman would get you expelled immediately.

I can't put it together yet but what's the significance of everyone wearing a white glove on their left hand only?

but, yes, good point, they all have only one glove.

Only thing I can think of is, because it's a rehearsal, they had the scripts which they're holding and maybe couldn't turn the pages with the gloves on, so they all took it off their dominant hand to hold the script.

As kids, how did we play "ghosts"? We put sheets over our heads with the eyes cut out. Yes, I know it's South Carolina - and I know that the Citadel has ..um.. some questionable history. But this 'scandal' seems a bit desperate.
