Answer to mass shooting - science steps in

[IMG][/IMG]

"A sponge-filled syringe that fills gunshot wounds in as little as 20 seconds could be a promising step toward curbing U.S. gunshot fatalities now that the device, formerly limited to military use, has been approved for use on the general population in America."

Now, I ask you - doesn't that make you feel better . I bet the NRA is breathing easier now that we won't have all that pesky bleeding after an "incident".

That was the original use:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tampon

"The tampon has been in use as a medical device since the 18th century, when antiseptic cotton tampons treated with salicylates were used to stop bleeding from bullet wounds."

Since the commercials suggest that if you have them, you can go dancing, horseback riding, swimming, and all kinds of things.

I haven't figured out why yet, though.

I agree they probably didn't realize that clotting would stall.

This was pre-penicillin too, so a lot of things that "made sense" at that time don't make sense now.

Even if you could stop the bleeding initially, sepsis was going to finish the job.
