This boomer is not clueless. This boomer is aware that the job market sucks big time.
Edited to add: And I'm sure many others are too.
This boomer has been in the work force most of the time since the late 60s. And IMO and IME, the job market has gotten progressively worse since then.
For example, when I was in my early 20s, I got a clerical job at a hospital. This was in the early 70s. Right away I was full-time, with benefits, and didnt have to pay premiums for health insurance coverage, as I had single coverage.
Nowadays, the same job would probably be part-time, no benefits, and would be that way forever and ever amen, regardless of how long a person stayed in that job.
I work for the state, and Ive had about 5 employees working for me over the past 5 years, in part-time jobs. In their 20s, bright, educated, hard-working. At the time they were working with me, some of them were also working another part-time job. No benefits with either job. They all had spouses or housemates; otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to make it.
Im happy to say that most of them eventually found better jobs, full-time with benes.
