(39,171 posts)it is not grounds for strict gun control. What it really calls for is mental health reform and a national anti-suicide campaign.

(39,171 posts)without imposing draconian measures on every other legal gun owner and I will listen. Suicide is a personal choice - taking away other people's civil liberties is not the solution.

I understand your position though. There were people who thought the aesthetics of the Golden Gate bridge were more important too.

(39,171 posts)lets start there. It would have the advantage of saving the live of desperate people that use other methods besides guns.
I have no problem with a system that allows mental health professionals to identify people that are a danger to themselves or others so their weapons can be temporarily removed. An online report system with an associated database perhaps.

The bold numbers were added by me, and represent gun homicides.
