There are limits to our constitutional right to free speech and yelling fire in a crowded theater is one of those limits (unless there really is a fire).
In this case, the actual question is: Is Trumps language inciting people to attack Muslim individuals and/or mosques in the U.S.?
Weve probably got a lot of lawyers here. What do you think? Is Trump, in effect, yelling fire in a crowded theater?

(16,286 posts)He wants to become as outrageous as he can, draw the really nasty folks (we know them by a particular name) to his campaign, and then when the R party nominates someone else, he will go 3rd party and take these folks with him.
He is loving the attention and the crowds, but secretly he doesnt want a con in the WH and he and Bill dreamt this up at their last meeting.

(16,286 posts)DOnald Trump is a criminal who used thugs to beat up old people to force them out of their apartments so he could turn them into condos.
He is a liar and an asshole, but he is not the extreme bigot that he is playing on TV (basing this off of what we know about him up till now)
As I said on my twitter
"Donald Trump may not be a total racist piece of shit, he just plays one on TV"

(5,530 posts)Part of the problem with this concept is that it creates a slippery slope where any type of undesirable speech becomes arguably dangerous.

(13,390 posts)The Islamaphobic sentiment is driving that. Anyone who wants to make the fear those people feel about their own free speech is part of the US Narcissism Donald Trump so perfectly represents.

Because I think everyone is already objectively aware of that implicit sentiment as part and parcel of the statement. Much as the OP implies there is no fire in the theater Trump is yelling in (or at).

(6,960 posts)That is exactly correct.
And for those in the Repuglican Party, they do believe there is a fire in the theater.
Frankly, I think this may have been a very smart move for Trump politically in the base Repuglican electorate.
