And maybe the only way to trump Trump is to be even more extreme and nasty than he is - which would probably give us Ted Cruz. And that guy scares me just as much because he's as extreme as Trump, and probably smarter. He'd be just as likely to start pogroms against Muslims and stir up WWIII.

His comments on Monday give him the opportunity to solidify support among the racists, xenophobes and hardcore evangelicals in his party. If he can bring in the the corporatists, the wealthy, the warmongers/chickenhawks and the rural poor, he will have covered all the bases and will win the nomination in a romp.
