Syrian refugees arriving in Texas today
http://kxan.com/2015/12/07/12-syrian-refugees-arriving-in-texas/Syrian refugees, which include six children, will find homes today in Dallas and Houston. Refugees will join relatives who have already settled in Texas.
Last week Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against a resettlement agency called the International Rescue Committee and federal officials. However, the AG’s office withdrew the request for an order to stop the refugees from entering Texas. The lawsuit remains pending and a judge could hear arguments later this week.
Governor Abbott, along with governors from 30 other states, have said they don’t want to accept any additional refugees due to fears over terrorism; something many advocates say is misguided.
Prior to the Paris attacks, Texas took in nearly 250 Syrians. Federal officials say they plan to allow as many as 250 additional Syrians in to Texas.
