Once again, the President is the only adult in the room.

Last edited Sun Dec 6, 2015, 10:07 PM - Edit history (1)

He called on common sense gun safety laws, no rush to ground war and called upon the American-Muslim community to take a more active role in snuffing out extremism inside the United States.

talking about that, and only that.

He called it terrorism.

He said "God Bless America"

I wonder what the new right-wing outrage will be?

His only comment on gun control was about making people on the terrorist watch-list off limits from purchasing guns. If that causes an outrage, then this country is even more pathetic than I thought, which is really bad - because make no mistake, this country is pretty pathetic.

We even have a recent radical Christian cop killer terrorist but the right wingers don't want to acknowledge that.

Ian Fleming was a WWII spy who wrote about a Cold War spy, James Bond. He was not a bartender.

Any bartender will tell you the rule. You should never, ever shake drinks which are all booze, like martinis, Manhattans, etc. You want them clear, cold, with no bubbles. Ingredients stirred over lots of ice is the only way. Only an idiot would order a shaken martini. And only an idiot bartender would accommodate such an order.

The shaken, not stirred meme is a bartender's nightmare.

The only rationale reason for the "shaken not stired" martini was because he wanted it watered down. I guess a super spy was trying to stay sober.

if done correctly.

A true martini (like any real cocktail that involves mixing in ice) relies on its water content. You don't get a martini cold by stirring without adding significant water to the drink - and it's supposed to be there. If anything, it takes longer to chill by stirring, so you add more melt-off.

The real answer is that "shaken" martinis were fairly common in the 1950's, and even fadish, while stirred drinks were frumpy. It was more about Bond being "fashionable" than it was about remaining sober.

In and out with the vermouth, add gin and shake with ice.

Pour into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with an olive or a twist.

I show the respect for them whatever their beliefs may be -- but no parent I have talked to espouses negative thoughts. They love their children as much as we love ours, as far as I can see. And I have been in many, many homes.

I told my far, far better half (we were married in 1976, and she agrees) that as much as we love our children, families from other backgrounds love their children pretty much as deeply as we love ours.

Good for Obama! Born in the same hospital my wife was, Kapiolani Hospital. And graduated from the same school she did, Punahou.

You are a good man, President Obama! I am sure glad to have voted for you twice! (On the other hand, TPP is not good, etc.)
