...too high for the underpass, which would set off some installed flashing lights that would warn the driver.

I was working with a cable tv construction crew when the boss instructed me to take the bucket truck and pick up lunch at a local fast food joint.

I placed the order at the drive through menu and started towards the window that was sheltered by a low overhang. Fortunately the low clearance sign caught my eye and I remembered what I was driving.

I parked the truck, went into the restaurant and identified myself as the idiot who nearly crashed into their building, picked up my order and went on my way.

Five minutes after picking up a U-Haul truck I mangled the part overhanging the cab on a big tree branch outside my apartment. Easily a few thousand in damage -- total mess.

The desk clerk asked if I had purchased the insurance. When I assured him I had he shrugged and said "Shit happens. Hope you learned something about clearance."
