What did Rahm Emanuel know?

(CNN) Was there a cover-up at the highest office in Chicago?

That is among the questions swirling around Mayor Rahm Emanuel and a video showing the police killing of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald:

What did the mayor know, and when did he know it?

It took 13 months for the video to be made public. The police dashcam video shows the teen walking down the road and veering away from police before being riddled with bullets, with most shots coming as he lay limp on the pavement. The video contradicts what police said occurred: that McDonald had lunged at officers. ..............(more)

1. Either Rahm knew from the jump or he was not doing a life and death part of his job. Either way.....

3. He will probably fall back on the age old defense of plausible deniability.

King Henry II of England is said to have stated of Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket, "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?" Becket was indeed murdered, although the king denied that his plea was to be taken in such a way.

7. Rahm's low hanging fruit. Why did the aldermen circle the wagons?

They knew everything. That's not speculation: the settlement was based on the family's attorney's account after watching the video. He told the aldermen exactly what he saw, which completely refuted the police report. But the day after the video was released to the public, the black caucus called a news conference where they made the claim they were "misled."

Rahm is a Machiavellian douche who only cares about 1 thing, becoming president.

The black caucus failed its community. WTF? They didn't care in the least. That's the story here. They need to be held accountable for their inaction. But that story is going to get buried. It's almost as if they've been in office so long they're jaded to all of this, at best. At worst, they had something to gain from covering up and saving Rahm's career.

Rahm's not the only one who needs to go. Sadly, no one will glance at the aldermen who claim they were misled and didn't demand the video in February after a copy of the autopsy was obtained and after hearing the attorney's account of the video.

So what. Lots of people have regretted previous decisions after finding out new info.

11. They might have been indifferent, but it seems like misplaced blame.

The cop shot McDonald in the back 16 times, then the PD, and likely Rahm, covered it up. That's where the responsibility ultimately lies.

...lenient on the black caucus. Like I said, Rahm is low hanging fruit. He can't be recalled, we have to shut the city down until he resigns. But it's the responsibility of the black caucus to stand up and bring everything to a screeching halt when the corrupt police department obviously executes one of their constituents. I'd love an explanation that's never going to come.

The fish rots from the head down, and this fish is rotted through and through.

Exactly what I've been looking for since this story broke.

But that whole hive is ablaze. Emanuel may not be able to save himself. Everything about the killing of McDonald over 400 days ago, including the slithering about of Chicago officials in their efforts to suppress video of his murder, stinks to high heaven...

It all makes one ask: How much is the life of a teenager worth? To what length would officials go to bury visual evidence that he had been shot down in the street like a dog? Are officials so desperately afraid of losing their jobs that they would conceal details about the loss of a boy’s life?
