Because the shooter has a muslim name and saying this has bad ramifications for President Obama.
Most other media, are saying its a tragic mass shooting.

(10,642 posts)Billo went on to explain the scenario, should we find out the shooters were members of ISIS.
However, we don't have enough info yet.
What a schmuck!

(12,383 posts)The shooter is named Farooq Saeed.
This was first reported by one of Donald Trump's biggest supporters on Twitter.

(1,644 posts)This time, some people are being quick to link it to Islam (and by extension, President Obama), apparently because of a a suspect's name, which I have not yet heard verified. On the other hand, the president and all three Democratic candidates have are reported to be blaming this on a lack of gun control or something. Let's wait until the facts are in before drawing any conclusions. This is too serious to be jockeying for political advantage already.

(10,201 posts)Of course I don't think Fox News is smart enough to know the difference. So it basically falls to the fact that if they cannot pronounce it, it must be a "Muslim Name". Hence the issues with Obama always being accused of being one.

(3,447 posts)As an amusing aside, several long years ago I was a happy little fresh high school grad with an unhealthy desire to play Street Fighter 2 all day at the arcade. You would not BELIEVE the pronunciations I came across for names as simple as...
...wait for it...
...Ken.
Yeah. Ken. As in "and Barbie". Pronounced "Keen." According to this individual. And I think there were at LEAST eight different pronunciations of Guile (and amazingly, in all the years I played that silly game, I only met one other person who could correctly pronounce the word!). My personal favorite was "Gwee-lay".
So I wouldn't have any trouble buying this as an actual explanation, as sad as that is!

(14,691 posts)someone came to the event and left or was kicked out and came back with two people - which doesn't sound like terrorism to me but they are not ruling out terrorism yet.

(1,142 posts)which had me thinking it might have been someone associated with a militia who went and got a couple of buddies and came back. Another thing is one of the shooters was a woman which you don't usually place with a ME based terror attack.
