Watch out for anything you hear solely on the internet about the shooting.

I've been reading all sorts of bullshit making claims about "Fariq Said" being sought over police scanners in connection to the shooting. Meanwhile I've been listening live to the cops on a scanner and nothing could be further from the truth.

(Copy/pasted from the last shooting with most typos fixed)

Media will report things to keep viewers tuned in. Rumors multiply online. Inaccuracies are reported as fact.

The current shooting is still happening and please beware of believing pretty much anything at this point or making assumptions as the situation is fluid. Eventually the facts will come out. Patience, please.

Thank you.

It's true, one has to know how to navigate these things, separate the wheat from the chaff, and so on. But I've already seen several social media comments contending that network and cable television coverage sucks by comparison. If you want up-to-the-minute news, and if you're capable of sifting through it effectively, Twitter and Reddit give you a lot more information and a lot more quickly.

Oh, and you're wrong about the Farouk Said thing. This may or may not be a perpetrator's name, but this name was, in fact, read out over the scanner. This fact is not negotiable, nor is it subject to opinion.
