You think target shooting is constitutionally protected and that was the spirit of the 2nd amendment?

It says nothing about how I have use them. Read the Democratic Party platform if you are confused.

Is your target shooting so important that everyone ought to have a gun?

That society should revert back to the wild west, where all justice was meted out by who had the quicker draw. Where human life meant less.

The 2A allows strict regulation but the individual right to own guns is a legal fact you need to recognize.

My target shooting does not mean everyone has to have a gun. It is an individual choice.

Although, it's been twisted beyond recognition (I will give you that), and is what makes our gun culture so sick.

However, it has been twisted beyond recognition, and many people like yourself believe as I have stated in the OP that everyone gets to own one.

Americans have owned guns for ever, even in the absence of militias. You are ignoring a lot of history.

It's not about protecting ourselves from "all the crazies we allow to purchase guns." The "nutcase who was able to legally buy a gun" is statistically not worth worrying about, unless you also worry a lot about being struck by lightning, etc. Defensive firearms are large;ly intended to be used against run-of-the-mill street criminals, who actually pose a statistically significant threat (albeit still not an enormous one). Those people aren't "allowed" to purchase guns, by law...

The #1 priority in additional gun regulation should be slowing the flow of handguns to felons and other prohibited persons (and people contemplating suicide). Instead we obsess about military-looking semiautomatic rifles...when rifles of all types are used in about 500 homicides per year and almost no suicides. It's insane...
